I have two shops on Etsy one is vintage and the other handmade handbags and related items. My vintage shop began when I left my profession as a museum curator. I knew I had to pursue other interests, because I love keeping busy and learning new things. In 2010 I discovered Etsy and began selling my personal collection of unique vintage items. The shop took off. All well and good, but if was not a creative endeavor. I really wanted to find something I could make that I love owning. I wanted to be creative like the artists I had been working with during my career. I learned to use a sewing machine my daughter in law had given me that had sat idle for over a year. I took a few classes and made a few small handbags. I was so excited. I took more classes, joined online sewing groups. I did not have confidence enough until last year (2017) to try putting my handbags to the test by opening an Etsy handbag shop.
I thought my story might be interesting to others who had successful careers, but didn’t discover they had creative talent until after they left their professions. Knowing that people wear and love my handbags, wallets, pouches, etc. is a thrill and adds so much joy to my life.
My shops on Etsy are Color Me Chic Boutique and Second Impulse.
